Getting your home ready to sell
Get rid of clutter to improve your selling advantage
The kitchen is always a great place to start removing clutter before selling. Your family spends alot of time here, so alot of things accumulate easily. Kitchen’s and bathrooms can make or break the sale of a home in the Peoria area so it is important to have them in tip top condition! First, get everything off of the counter that you don’t absolutely need on a daily basis. The items you use a few times a week, put them under the counter in a cabinet. If your cabinets are too full, box up pots and pans your rarely use and get them ready for the upcoming move. Better to have some extra boxes in the basement or garage to allow for more space in the cabinets. Show lots of counterspace. It will make your kitchen look larger and more spacious. Remove all those plants from around the sink and on the windowsills. And make sure to check under your sink to clean out all the extra sponges, cleaning rags and buckets. Scrub down this area and make sure it is spotless!
Lastly, lighten up on the pantry goods and above counter cabinets so they look spacious and clean when opened by your potential buyers. I suggest a separate set of dishtowels to set out for showings only. That way they always look fresh! Add a few updated countertop items from a kitchen store to give you that designer look! Our central Illinois buyers will appreciate your efforts!
As a last thought, our Peoria, Illinois area market continues to be strong regardless of happenings in other parts of the country. We have much new construction as well as many lovely resale areas.
